Well, they are nice and peaceful, just make sure your hand is
not itchy enough to touch their spine (sting). It is very poisonous
and you can die from the sting especially if you are allergic to it
as it is a protein-based venom.
Btw the spine can pierce through the bone, and even if you use your
bare hands to just pick up the shedded spine, you can feel your
hand tingling for the whole day according to a fellow hobbyist who
had itchy fingers to pick it up with his bare hands
